Anita, fabuloso documentário fotográfico. Obrigado por compartilhar isso conosco. Mesmo longe, daqui do Brazil, você foi um simbolo na minha juventude, junto com os Stones, dos quais nunca deixarás de ser uma parte importante.

It is April 6th. Her son, Marlon, has verified that fact. Now, if we could just get the year ;)

Hi Juwana1984- I was really puzzled by the birthday thing too after I read Barbara Charone's BRILLIANT book on Keith Richards (it was published in 78 I think but absolutely worth finding because the author lived with the whole Richards clan throughout the Toronto drug trials and everything- so it is very intimate but also wonderfully written and fascinating). Anyhow in this book it said something like '6th April 1977: Anita spends her birthday...' And i too had always thought it had been 25th January so I was confused by this but it seems other sources attest that she was in fact born on this April date in 1942 in Hamburg.
So I'm sticking to that!
P.s. The site is truly fantastic and is a fitting tribute to an incredible woman.

great site! plenty of photos of anita that captures the beautiful woman that she is...

a question, though. most sources state her birthday as 25 January 1944 (wikipedia, etc.), but i've read someplaces (here amongst them) that she was born in April. can anyone here confirm which is it exactly? not that this is really important, but the discrepancy is bugging me.

thanks, keep up the great work!

Anita darling, I love you today as much as I did the last time I saw you in 1988 when visiting your penthouse across the street from Marlon's (on Kings Bridge Rd., I think.) I have so many fabulous memories of our times at Frog Hollow. Remember the late night outings to the Mudd Club and all the cool rockers we hung out with? Veal cutlet, peeled cucumber and Pepsi for Marlon and Ms. Frampton's evening visits. I'm so happy to see your fans keeping your incredible spirit alive in cyberspace and to hear that you are still ROCKING in the free world. I trust you are still doing what you love--making and sharing art, in whatever media you choose. You're the best in my book and I'll love you forever. All the best to you, my love, Theda

Thanks Anita. Here's a poem I wrote after reading Marianne's book...

The baroness is in the garden,

Broad-brimmed hat, gloves, secateurs, bees buzzing,

Those hollyhocks are lovely but goodness they grow tall.

(Her daughter speaks broken English. Wants to be an actress she says.

Which is fine of course, but the drug-taking is a worry,

A product of the Bohemian company she keeps.

Perhaps the convent school had been a mistake?

One wants the best for one’s children,

But one doesn’t want to be a snob).

The Baroness wonders about planting some carrots,

Causing much excitement in the seed packet.

She hopes it’s not too late.

It will be a day like many others she supposes,

Birds will sing, a cup of tea will somehow get made,

She may feel a little queasy,

Needing a lie down she will take to her bed,

And pass gently away, never to hear her daughter sing

The Seven Deadly Sins.
